Why Train with TICTI

What You’ll Be Able to Do After this Training

  • Identify clients who are ready for EMDR; and prepare them for EMDR.
  • Conduct an EMDR session.
  • Problem-solve a session that is not going smoothly.
  • Use EMDR with a wide range of clients whose presenting problems relate to trauma and/or loss.
  • Integrate EMDR into a comprehensive trauma-informed treatment approach.
"This experience made me realize I want to dedicate myself to EMDR therapy. I really liked how the training days were spaced out to give us enough time to get comfortable with the interventions and get feedback in the discussion forum."
Kristine Johnson
Pre-licensed MSW student, Baltimore, MD

How the Training Works

The training combines lecture, live demonstration, in-class practice with other participants, and on-the-job practice with your own clients between sessions.

As experiential training, part of the learning is to practice the interventions with other participants. Because participants are working on their own material during the practice sessions, some individuals have reported that their participation led to facing personal issues; participants are always in charge of what they disclose in class.

  • Multi-month timeline: Two days of training, then practice getting your clients ready for EMDR. Four days of training, then practice EMDR with your clients. Then the follow-up group consultation sessions. All scheduled in.
  • 1:10 ratio
  • Flexibility for group/agency scheduling.  On-site trainings are available for groups of 10 or more. Contact trainings@ticti.org for more information.

Textbooks and Materials

"The course was extremely thorough, and exceeded expectations. Since discussing with colleagues who have taken other EMDRIA basic trainings, I feel this course was superior in addressing common barriers to implementing EMDR."

Policies and Logistics

  • Time to Completion Policy. Normally, you’ll complete your EMDR training with your group, in about three months. If necessary, and under exceptional circumstances, you will have one year from your first day of training to complete the remainder of the training (TICTI approval required).
  • Attendance Expectations. You must be present and available for interactive practice on all days of training, for the length of the training day. If you are unable to do so for any reason, you will be asked to complete the remainder of the training days with another cohort, as the practices build upon each other.
  • CE Details and Limitations. CEs are only given for trainings completed in full. Review the information regarding continuing education here. It is important to check with your state board to verify your requirements. Continuing education hours are not available for consultation time, reading requirements, or prerequisites.
  • Cancellation Policy. If TICTI cancels a course, participants will be offered a full refund, or may choose to apply their registration fee to another scheduled course. If the participant cancels at least 15 days before the first course meeting, TICTI will provide a full refund less a $100 processing fee (and $75 materials fee). If the participant cancels less than 15 days before the first course meeting, TICTI will provide a full refund less a $100 processing fee, as long as the participant’s slot in the course is filled. There will be no refund of the registration fee if the slot is not filled. Full cancellation details here.
  • Grievance Policy. While TICTI goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the training staff which require intervention and/or action on the part of the training staff or an officer of TICTI. Details on how we handle grievances can be found here.
  • Returns Policy. Returns for books are allowed for any reason, as long as the item is in the original unused/undamaged condition. Returns that are not due to TICTI error will be subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. Full return policy details here.
  • Special accommodations and General Questions. Contact our training coordinator at trainings@ticti.org.

How many CEs are included?

Participants earn 50 CE hours upon successful completion of training.

Which entities recognize TICTI as an approved CE provider?

TICTI is recognized by the APA, NBCC, and NYSED as an approved CE provider.

Do you offer certification in EMDR?

We offer an EMDR Certification package including all required consultation and EMDRIA CE credits. This can be done as an add-on to your basic EMDR training, or at a later time.

The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) offers a Certification credential for advanced EMDR-trained therapists. Certification requires completion of an EMDRIA-approved training program (such as this one), practice with clients, EMDR-focused consultation, and continuing education approved by EMDRIA. Information about Certification can be found on the EMDRIA web site.

What are the requirements for EMDR certification?

  • Licensed, registered, or certified for independent practice in a mental health profession
  • Completion of an EMDRIA-approved EMDR basic training program
  • Completion of 50+ therapy sessions in which EMDR was used, with at least 25 clients
  • Completion of 20+ hours of EMDR consultation (after completion of the initial training), 10 of which must be individual consultation
  • Endorsement by an EMDR Consultant

Can I purchase EMDR consultation hours without signing up for the certification package?

Yes. You may purchase individual or group EMDR consultation sessions on our consultation page.

Can I take EMDR training online or is it in-person?

Most of our EMDR trainings are online. TICTI trainings can also be offered at your location for groups of 10 or more.

Is the online version of your EMDR training the same as an in-person training?

Our online and in-person trainings are exactly the same. Many people prefer the online training as it eliminates the need to travel.

What happens if I miss a training day?

If you miss a training day (or part of a training day), you will be required to make up that day in a future training in order to obtain your certificate of completion and CEs. In some cases, the day can’t be skipped, so you’ll have to complete your training with a new group.

If I live outside of the United States, may I take EMDR Training?

TICTI’s EMDR training is accredited by the EMDR International Association, which covers USA and Canada. Some countries’ EMDR professional associations may decline to recognize you as trained in EMDR if you live in that country but obtain your training from a country outside of that association’s jurisdiction.

"I will say basically the same thing that I told EMDRIA... this course was absolutely fantastic in every way — the quality teaching from the instructor and helping consultants; the excellence of the reading materials, videos, and handouts; the ample opportunity to practice and receive feedback; the generosity of shared resources and extra learning - all wonderful. I am excited to continue my EMDR journey!"
