Course Description
This program starts with an introduction to psychological trauma and impact of trauma. Then a comparison of coping vs. healing treatment approaches, and an explanation of memory reconsolidation – the sequence of activities the brain requires to heal traumatic memories. Finally, a review and description of selected research-supported and cutting-edge trauma treatments, including EMDR, PC, Flash, and intensive trauma-focused therapy.
Objectives
- Explain how unprocessed trauma creates reactivity or the “sore spot” reaction.
- Name and sequence the experiences the brain requires for memory reconsolidation.
- Identify at least three of the leading research-supported trauma healing methods currently available.

Grounding Techniques in Teletherapy Webinar

Course Description
Indicators of client dissociation will be identified. Participants will learn how to coach therapy clients, via telephone or video-conference, to use the DBT skills, “TIPP” and “self-soothing with the senses.” These can be used for grounding in session or at other times.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe how to help clients create a grounding kit prior to telehealth sessions.
- Demonstrate DBT “TIPP” skill to help ground clients during telehealth sessions.
- Demonstrate DBT “Self-soothing with the Senses” skill to help ground clients during telehealth sessions.

Introduction to Providing EMDR to Transgender, Non-Binary and Gender Non-Conforming Clients Webinar

Course Description
Through lecture, videos, discussion, and experiential exercises, participants will be introduced to how to work with Transgender, Non-Binary and Gender Non-Conforming Clients (GNC) in this 3-hour webinar. Current mental health treatment needs and use of EMDR with them as an effective trauma resolution treatment strategy will be discussed.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Have a beginning knowledge of the Diversity of Transgender, Non binary and Gender Non-conforming Peoples.
- Have an understanding of the impact of trauma upon them, their mental health needs, history of treatment and elements of affirming care.
- Have a beginning knowledge of an effective application of Shapiro’s 8 phase protocol in EMDFR treatment with Transgender, non-Binary and gender Non-conforming clients.
