Advanced Methods in Intensive Trauma-Focused Therapy

This is a hands-on clinical skills training featuring advanced techniques for working intensively with clients who have been exposed to significant trauma or loss.
Participants will be able to:
- Name the essential elements of motivational interviewing.
- Guide the client through the Future Movies motivational interviewing intervention.
- Implement the scripted treatment contracting intervention for resistant clients.
- Implement the “parent protector” intervention with a client.
- Guide a client to imaginally talk to their dead parent.
- Guide a client through the “dyadic resourcing” intervention for enhancing attachment status.
- Explain how insecure attachment can contribute to dissociation.
- Name the three primary parts used in IFS and explain their roles in a system.
- Guide a client in the creative conference room activity.
- Implement an interweave for nurturing the needs of inner child parts.
- Implement an interweave for visualizing the transformation of pain held by parts.

Who May Attend: This training is open to mental health professionals (psychologists, social workers, counselors, couple & family therapists, expressive arts therapists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, etc.). This training is geared to participants at intermediate or advanced professional levels, who have already completed training in EMDR and/or PC, as well as training in how to do intensive trauma-focused therapy.
Time: All listed workshops are 9-5 Eastern Standard Time unless otherwise specified.
